Health Officials Warn of Measles Outbreak in Northern Virginia

Health officials from the Northern Virginia Health Department has issued a warning of a possible measles outbreak that might have taken place between Sunday, June 2nd and Tuesday, June 4th. They believe a person with measles may have exposed others to the disease.

They are seeking to identify individuals who were at these three locations at the following times:

  • Dulles International Airport in Terminal A and Baggage Claim level on Sunday, June 2nd from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center in the emergency department: Sunday, June 2nd at 11pm through Monday, June 3rd at 4:30am
  • Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in the emergency department, including the waiting area: Tuesday, June 4th from 3:00pm to 5:30pm

Health officials say that symptoms of measles for those who may have contracted the disease at the times and places above may not experience any symptoms until Tuesday, June 25, 2019.

The Northern Virginia Health Department encourages people who have not been vaccinated against measles to receive it as soon as possible and to check with their healthcare providers if they suspect they may not have ev received the vaccination.
