Did Red Hot Chili Pepper's Anthony Kiedis grow up primed to be a rock star...because of his dad's bad influence on Anthony as a kid? According to John Kiedis (otherwise known as Blackie Dammet), that's a big, fat yes.
Sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...Anthony Kiedis saw it all at a very tender age. Since his parents got divorced when he was 4, it meant Anthony split time between his mom's house in Michigan, and his dad's house in Hollywood. Since his dad was a hipster actor, it meant that Anthony saw some pretty wild stuff as a kid.
In Hollywood, Anthony went everwhere his dad went, including clubs. Blackie said that he even went so far as to make matching outfits for them to wear out together. If he wore a pinstripe suit to a club, Anthony would have a matching suit to wear.
It definitely sounds as though Anthony Kiedis' dad is saying, "Thanks to my bad influence, my son wanted the life of a rock star."
The BBC interview with Anthony Kiedis' dad is pretty interesting. It really seems as though they were best friends when Anthony was growing up.
