Dave Grohl isn't a fan of talent shows, specifically singing competitions. His beef isn't off-key renditions of Foo Fighters songs. No, Dave says that the current lineup of talent shows/singing competitions are judged by "f***ing musicians that hardly even play an instrument on their own f***ing albums. It makes me really mad."
Dave also went on to say that the competitions all homogenize music, so everyone "sounds like f***ing Christina Aguilera." He also went on to say that he interviewed Neil Young at one point, and Neil told him that someone once said that 'the band's really great, but you shouldn't be the singer.' If Neil Young had listened to that person, then we wouldn't have any Neil Young."
The bottom line? Dave Grohl says if anyone tells you that you can't sing, then you should tell them to go screw themselves and then prove them wrong.
Speaking of Dave Grohl, all this week you can win a copy of his new documentary, "Sound City", along with the accompanying soundtrack. Make sure you're a part of the DC101 A/V Club to win.
