Obviously I have a lot to learn about when it comes to beer. But I'm probably the least knowledgeable about tripels...and Belgians in general really.
Only one way to get better...drink more Belgian style beer!
Look-Cloudy straw yellow color with a healthy sustained head.
Smell-wheat, citrus fruit, and banana, banana, banana.
Taste-tangy, citrus, banana, and spice. I can taste the unfiltered wheat. That's pretty cool.
Mouth-light to medium bodied a bit dry and flavorful.
Overall-One caveat to this review: I'm drinking this a little past its freshness date. Having said that, it's pretty tasty. I've acquired a taste for Belgian ales and this is a solid example of the style. Would have loved to have it fresh.
About Long Strange Tripel:
A golden-amber colored, full bodied beer with an intense fruity aroma of bananas, a prominent sweet malt flavor containing a hint of toffee, and a low to medium citrusy hop flavor and bitterness.
