Two things I love are the sweet sound of Dave Matthews and sucking down a good oyster. Now what does Dave Matthews and oysters have in common other than some summer time fun? Well, recently the Dave Matthews Band has donated a nice chunk of change to the Bama Works Fund.
The project is to benefit oyster restoration from the devastating aftermath of hurricane Sandy that recently struck the East Coast. Oyster restoration is essential; one of these little guys can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day.
It’s refreshing to see a benefit such as, water quality restoration come from the music world. So this summer when I have an oyster shooter while listening to “Don’t Drink the Water” it will be in the back of my mind the simple contribution Dave Matthews has made to an underrated need.
