This is actually a collaboration between Maui and Dogfish Head which is a tad confusing.

More confusing? I have no idea what breadfruit is...or what papaya seeds taste like. So this should be a helluva tasting.
Bring on the can!
Look-Amber in color with a funnel of floaties rising to the center of the glass. Pretty cool effect.
Smell-I smell a fruit...citrusy perhaps? This would be a good time to mention that I don't know what breadfruit is.
Taste-Woah. I definitely know what papaya seeds taste like! Also, some tangy fruit taste in there.
Mouth-Medium bodied. Dry and toasty in the mouth and finish. The papaya is a nice flavor that pops on the swirl and swallow.
Overall-At 8.2% ABV this is a subtle ninja of booze. Can't taste the alcohol at all. Having said that, this beer didn't do much for me. The toasted seeds popped on first taste but it actually drank a little neutral. That's not something you want from a specialty beer that's a collaboration. Disappointing.
About Liquid Breadfruit:
Dogfish Head superstar – Sam Calagione, will be our fearless collaborator! The result – a beer-epiphany never before innovated called Liquid Breadfruit!

To celebrate the cornucopia of a Maui-grown harvest, we will ingeniously combine local breadfruit (or ulu) & toasted papaya seeds into the recipe of an imperial golden ale fermented using Dogfish Head’s DNA ( Delaware-Native-Ale) yeast. You won’t want to wait until October to try it, but oh it will be worth the wait!
