I got this as part of a Beer of The Month club gift I got.
Those things suck by the way...if you have a craft beer loving friend, it seems like a great gift idea, but it's not. Invariably, half (at least) of the beers suck. Just because they aren't available in our area doesn't make them good.
I'm a big nut brown fan though so hopefully that will cancel out the dubious circumstances under which I obtained this beer.
Look-A very pleasant looking copper brown
Smell-Sweet fruity flavors in my nose with just a hint of the nutty aroma I'm expecting from this style.
Taste-The first thing I taste is sweet. Sweet what you ask? I'm not sure because the next thing I taste is water...which washes away all other tastes. Uh oh.
Mouth-Well...it's light bodied. I get a bit of fruity flavor in the swallow. And I GUESS there is malt and some pecan in the swirl. I guess.
Overall-Yeah, don't get your friends a Beer of the Month thingie as a gift.

About Pecan Nut Brown Ale:
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.
