Stouts used to scare me. They always looks so dark, thick, and intimidating...which is exactly what girls say about me when I take my pants off. HEYOOOOO!
Anyway, I think it had a lot to do with not liking Guinness. Once I realized that not all stouts tasted like Guinnes, my true stout journey could begin.
Look-Black with a finger of frothy brown foam.
Smell-Dark fruit and slightly chocolatey. Slightly.
Taste-Dry in the mouth. Hearty (which I guess is due to the barley). Did I mention it's dry in mouth?
Mouth-I'll just throw it out there...it's dry. Medium bodied.
Overall-Disclaimer: I drank this ICE cold which was probably a mistake as my taste buds are right chilled while tasting. Having said that, there isn't a lot going on with this beer. It's dry...I can taste hints of chocolate and it's got a weird "runny" finish. I won't be trying this one again.
