You've been hearing a lot about Souther Tier the last few weeks beacuse the PumKing is generally considered one of the best pumpkin beers you can find. I found it very rich (too rich actually) which fits in with their other beers. They are great sippers...but the richness of the flavors wears on me after half a bottle.

So let's try a more traditional beer from them.

Smell-Piney hops

Taste-Hops on the lips tempered with a citrus flavor but piney throughout, including the finish.

Mouthfeel-Medium bodied and tingly on the palette.

Drinkability-A good double IPA. High ABV but you can't really taste it, which is a good but dangerous thing. It doesn't really set itself apart from other double IPAs but a tasty beer nonetheless.

About 2x IPA:

An IPA kicked up a notch to form a true Double IPA: feverishly hoppy with a malty backbone and higher-than-standard alcohol content. Citrusy hops tease the senses with aromatics and lingering bitterness, while just the right balance of malts disguises 2xIPAs extra gravity.
