1. Don't be a jerk on the phone.
2. You must know the name of the song and who it's by or be prepared to sing it.
3. No Skynyrd.
4. Thursday Night is Ladies Night. No wang allowed.
5. I have the final say over all song choices.
Sometimes dreams can't come true, even for Dave Grohl.
He was hoping to get all kinds of artists to mix and match for the Sound City Soundtrack. He got a lot of his wishes: Corey Taylor, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Paul McCartney, but one just didn't happen.
Dave wanted one track to be completely Hollywood, and he thought of Barry Manilow and Weezer! Now that would have been outstanding. He told The Observer that Barry was on board but the idea came together too late and Dave had to go to Hawaii for other obligations.
I can only imagine how magical that song would have been. The Sound City Soundtrack is out in stores and on iTunes next Tuesday but you can stream it now from NPR!
