Two songs battle to the death inside the steel, every weeknight at 10pm!
Our Current Champion of the World:
Black Sabbath's God Is Dead!
Congratulations on the retirement Black Sabbath! We'll see you in December for the Mondo Grande Tournament of Champions!
On Tuesday night, two new gladiators step into the steel!
Call and voice your opinion about the songs, 1-866-91-DC101! Their fate is in your hands. Either they live to fight another day, or THEY SHALL DIE!!!
What do you get this week?
How about tickets to see Korn on May 21st at The Fillmore?
Or maybe on Thursday Ticket Takeover you'll catch Jimmy Eat World August 11th at the 9:30 Club?
And if you're really lucky I'll send you copies of some tasteful nudes I've done. Tasteful is the key word here...
Yes, Last Calls is all about you and what you want to hear every weeknight at 11! Ring me up, 1-866-91-DC101! However, there must be rules, and Last Calls has 5 very important ones that everyone is expected to follow.
1. Don't be a jerk on the phone.
2. You must know the name of the song and who it's by or be prepared to sing it.
3. No Skynyrd.
4. Thursday Night is Ladies Night. No wang allowed.
5. I have the final say over all song choices.
I had a great time running around and taking photos of everything at Rock on the Range, please check out my first day shots by clicking here and going to them!
Just a sample, from our friends Papa Roach.
More photos and other goodies coming later today!
Day 1 of Rock on the Range was great, especially getting to sit down for a few minutes with Jim Florentine! Jim is getting ready for the 12th season of That Metal Show plus he was doing stand up at Rock on the Range. Lots to discuss and I had to take an awful photo with him...
Told you it was bad... Anyhow, hear our chat!
Thank you Jim! Apologies again for my bad smile.
It happened in September of 2011. R.E.M. called it quits. Nobody expected that to be said, but it was and they did and now they're no longer.
Fans have been asking how long until they do decide to get back on stage, in the studio, to do something again as R.E.M. But it won't happen. It's not going to occur anymore because they aren't going to do it!
That's what Mike Mills said. The former R.E.M. bassist told Rolling Stone how it is and how it's going to be.
"There were no real factors other than deciding it was time to break up. There's no drug abuse. There's no in-fighting. There's no legal problems. It was time to break up. That's never really been done before.
He went on to say, "The idea of breaking up and not reforming for a reunion tour is kind of attractive to us," he added. "I doubt you'll see us touring as R.E.M. again. On the other hand, I just played with Peter in New York City the other night, so fun things do happen."
So that's how it stands, at least for now. It could change, but I wouldn't bank on it...
One of the biggest pet peeves I have about going to shows is not having cell service. I know you agree because I always see people around me trying to do whatever on their phones during a set change and getting annoyed.
The people at Glastonbury are going to try to solve the problem this year: they've partnered with EE, a mobile provider in the UK, and are getting their own dedicated 4G network for the show this year! How great is that!
If this works I hope more concert venues and festivals do this. Smartphones are such a part of our lives and to make the customer happy with an addition like this would be huge! We'll see. Glastonbury is coming up at the end of June.
William Duvall has been with Alice in Chains for 7 years but he's still finding his role in the band.
He told GuitarPlayer.com, “I would say we’re still settling in – it’s always work in progress. There are a lot of things that we have in common, then there are a lot of things that set us very much apart from one another.”
William went on to say how Alice in Chains has become a more jamming band because that's how he was brought up in music and the guys have accepted that and infused that into the classic Alice in Chains sound.
It'll be interesting to hear what William brings to the new album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. We have that coming to us on May 27th!
