Thanks to my buddy and Washington Capitals Public Address Announcer Wes Johnson for this photo below. I know that the series is three games in but the Caps are still in this. There has been some pretty physical play but it has been very enjoyable to watch.

While I was in my perch in Section 402 this season as a season ticket holder, I did notice something. There were people being rather douchey. This went for fans of both teams. Let's live by this one mantra..."DON'T BE A DOUCHE!!!"

Mainly because Brad Marchand is being a big enough one for everybody in the arena during this series. 

Khan's Game Face:

The 13th edition of Elliot in the Morning's Kegs and Eggs has come and gone and let me tell you...this might have been the best ever! I've been at the station now for five years but this truly topped all of the ones that I've been present for. I've seen some really good bands at this event in the past such as Switchfoot, Rooney, Jet, Cowboy Mouth, Crash Kings and of course our really good friends Carbon Leaf who make themselves available every year.

The 2012 installment featured two bands who I am very very fond of and a comedian that I've heard on the air with Elliot and whose specials I have seen numerous times. Seeing Carbon Leaf as mentioned earlier is always a treat but this year, the accompanying bands who played on the bill are bands who have been featured on DC101 and I was super stoked (shocker) that they were on the bill. Those bands were Sleeper Agent and Anberlin.

Sleeper Agent kicked off the show and they were awesome! I think a true test of a band should be can they play with the same intensity and passion at 8am that they would if they were playing a regularly scheduled club date at 8pm or later. If that were the test than Sleeper Agent would have passed that test some flying colors yo. 

This was my fourth time seeing Anberlin and holy crap dude...they were super stellar and awesome! The added caveat was that they announced that a new album is in the works and could be unveiled as early as summer 2012. The other...I got to hang with them for a bit. 

And probably the thing that made Kegs and Eggs truly special outside of the bonding with coworkers that don't get to see each other on the regular was Bert Kreischer. He is amazing. If you've never seen him, just do it. He brings so much energy to whatever he is doing and he's just a fun all around guy. The Machine was on point at the 9:30 Club for Kegs and Eggs 2012. 

For those in attendance...thank you. For those who listened on DC101 or DC101.com...thank you. For those that missed out...you really missed out on a fun time.

So it's been a fairly good last 12 months for your boy and it just got better this past Thursday (3.8.2012). Let's recap some of the awesomeness of the last 12 months...

• graduated with my master's from George Mason University...check
  
• adult rec league basketball champ...check (team photos bottom left)
• multiple time trivia champ over at Samuel Beckett's in Shirlington on Tuesdays...check (has been mentioned in this blog numerous times)

And this past Thursday, it became a little extra awesome. I joined a bocce league in Adams Morgan with some friends through the United Social Sports group and my squad, "The Factory of Sadness," won the Winter 2012 Grand Central Adams Morgan Bocce League title. But here's the thing about our season...we never lost. The perfect season. Not sure if there has been one in the history of USS but we def made it happen. The victorious team is pictured below...

Jeremy Lin?

A woman in New York paid that much for her husband to meet New York Knicks superstar Jeremy Lin. Before I go any further, I will preface that the money went to charity and not into someone's pocket and that is admirable. I'm all about Charity...I've funded her college tuition a dollar at a time.

Anyway, this dude got five minutes with him, an opportunity to shoot around during the pre-game and was given the jersey Lin wore in the match up against the Lakers where he scored 38 points.

With all that aside...$43,000?!?! I've got celebrities and other folks that I want to meet but not sure if I'd ever drop that much coin to meet them. But if I did...the top three people I'd want to meet are:

1. Trent Reznor
2. Keifer Sutherland (Jack Bauer from 24)
3. Kelly Clarkson

If you've heard me on the air on DC101, read one of my blogs or have ever met me, you know that I like to say words...two in particular. Those words would be stoked and awesome. I get so stoked that DC101's own Roche even coined a hashtag about me on the Twitter about my constantly being stoked. That hashtag would ... #khanisstoked. Feel free to use that how you wish. 

Anyway, the reason for being stoked this time around is because of the new Gotye song ("Somebody That I Used To Know") and album ("Making Mirrors").

Before we get to the song, let's get the pronunciation correct. That would "go TEE yay." Now let's talk about Gotye himself. He's a Belgian dude who spends his time in Australia. Making Mirrors is his third record and it is nothing but awesome!

Got it...good! Now let's move on to the song. 

The song will speak to you. One listen will make you go, "Damn...that is deep yo!" I've been driving around for the past week and can't stop listening to the whole album. Especially this particular song. I've posted the video and the lyrics below. Check them out and you'll know definitely what I'm talking about.

OH...I forgot the most important part...there is an amazing female contributor to this track. Her name is Kimbra and she is from New Zealand. She's got a few records out herself. When you listen to her in the video below, you'll be hooked and you'll be Google-ing to find out more about her!
