This is a social bar league I joined with some friends. Our primary sport is Indoor Bar Bocce...and we're kinda good too. We change our name every season but the awesomeness of the team remains. Below are our results...

Being that I am part Mongolian and I am direct descendent of Genghis Khan, you already don't want to mess with me. But I've upped the stakes a little here and got me some protection in the form of the Brouwer Rangers.
Readers of this blog and listeners of the radio station know that I am a gigantic fan of the Washington Capitals. I went to my first game at the Cap Centre back in 1992, supported the team before the fire sale and after. I am currently on year five of my season ticket holder status for the Capitals and have loved everything about being in my perch in Section 402 during those five years. The nicknames alone are worth it. There is a dude name Scary, Mullet, Creepy Keith and me...well, I'm just Khan.
Also in section 402, we have the Brouwer Rangers! They sit directly behind me and they are the creators and sustainers of the nation's first-ever Brouwer Power movement. This of course to support the #20 Troy Brouwer. A right winger for the Caps who is definitely a fan favorite and was part of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks.
While thinking about the players on this year's squad, there is some amazing talent and many fan favorites. The league's reigning MVP in Alex Ovechin, Game Over Mike Green, the nicest guy in the world in Brooks Laich and many more. Hell...I went out and bought a Nick Backstrom jersey on the morning of March 5, 2010 after this happened the evening prior against the Lightning during a 4 on 3 (the word "this" is a web link). But also with guys like Eric Fehr, Joel Ward, John Erskine, Carlson, Alzner, Jason Chimera (even though I'm still bummed about the Chris Clark trade) and everyone else on this squad, it is hard to pick the most favorite.
But getting back to Troy Brouwer, dude is a flat out nice guy who brings a gigantic presence on the Caps second line and has a pretty decent shot. Remember game 5 against the Bruins a couple years ago? If not, watch this:
Here are some photos..

Me with #20 of your Washington Capitals, Mr. Troy Brouwer!
I get stoked about many things. The most I have been musically stoked recently was the first time I heard the new Smallpools single, "Dreaming." It's been a meteoric rise for these gentlemen as they formed the band in January 2013, played their first gig in July 2013 and and are now making the rounds of late night television and have gotten some sweet gigs as the openers for bands such as Two Door Cinema Club, Walk The Moon and in November (the 25th to be exact), they will be at the 9:30 Club opening for twenty-one-pilots.
On October 28th, the boys were on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I've pasted their performance for you below. Enjoy cause I know you will!!!
I love Pop Punk!
I said it and do not care what anyone says. It is one of those genres that just speaks to me and there are a few bands who are pioneers in that realm. One of those bands is New Found Glory. Formed in Florida, these gentlemen have been at it for years and years. My first introduction to them was at the 9:30 Club when they played a show $1 and full on rocked 815 V St NW back in 2000. Since then, I have seen them more than 15 times and not just here in the area. The last time I saw them was November 2011 in Las Vegas. Sure they played shows in Richmond and in Baltimore but why not see them in a super cool place like on the Vegas strip right?
If you look to the left of this blog post (maybe up or down depending where the post is), you will see a picture of me with Chad Gilber, the guitar player from New Found Glory. Below is a photo of me with the boys from December 2002. As mentioned, I have seen them a bunch of times and have gotten to hang out with them a good bit as well too and they are a good bunch of dudes who love what they do.
They are going to be in town on November 7th at the Fillmore Silver Spring along with Alkaline Trio. It is a show that you can't miss. Something else that is awesome is that the boys are releasing their first ever live album on October 8th entitled "Kill it Live." It will feature three new live songs. The setlist is below:
03) Don't Let Her Pull You Down
04) All Downhill From Here
05) Anthem For the Unwanted
06) At Least I'm Known For Something
08) Something I Call Personality
09) Boy Crazy
10) Tip of the Iceberg
11) Coming Home
12) Forget My Name
13) Sincerely Me
14) Hit or Miss
15) Truth Of My Youth
16) The Story So Far
17) My Friends Over You
18) I Want to Believe
19) Connect the Dots
20) First Bite
A lucky listener, a much younger Khan and the boys from New Found Glory back in December 2002.
If you've been to the 9:30 Club, Merriweather Post Pavillion or any show that I.M.P. ever did, a Caps or Redskins game or anywhere in the district where you saw a gentleman with stretched out earlobes, piercings and ink, you have definitely seen him. His name was Josh Burdette and he was an institution in the DC music scene and recently passed away.
He once saved me from a "situation" back in 2003 which was more funny than an actual situation. He was a kind soul who looked out for concertgoers whose good times were not ruined by one or two a-holes in the crowd. This quote from him in a Washington City Paper article was awesome...
Big Josh: "I see all types of people from all walks of life, from all around the world...I get to see them when they’re having a good time."
When he wasn't at the concert venues, he was rooting for the Skins or the Caps. His Caps jersey was awesome...the number 930 and the name, "That Guy." He will be missed not only by this music fan but by all who went out to have a good time.

A website recently named the top 25 actors who were at some time actors in a former life. The list is full of very accomplished athletes who have done some good work on either the big screen of the cinemas or the television.
Some noteworthy names are:
WAIT...WHAT!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!??! Don't get me wrong. As a former track athlete (I was all district track at Edison High School in the mid-90s) who looked up to Bruce Jenner but you have got to be sh-tting me if his being on Keeping Up The Stupids is considered acting. Some of it is scripted but seriously!!! That is acting!??!
