Doo Doo FAQ
  • Q: What is Doo Doo Time Spectacular?
A: Doo Doo Time Spectacular is the hottest phenomenon in all the land!

Q: Got it. But what is Doo Doo Time Spectacular SPECIFICALLY?
A: Doo Doo Time Spectacular happens weekdays at 5:30pm. Generally, DDTS is a rock song you used to hear all the time on the radio back in the day but, for some unknown reason, you rarely hear anymore.

Q: Ok, but why is it called Doo Doo Time Spectacular?
A: That is one of the great mysteries of life.  Check out the History of the Doo podcast below for the answer to that question.

Q: What's with the Bruce Lee motif?
A: Early on, we used to say DDTS was "like a kung fu kick to the chest" (cue your best "HIIYAAAA") because you were so blown away by the song you just heard. The catchphrase isn't heard as often as before but you never know when Roche will bust it out after a Doo.

Q: I hear there are limited edition DDTS t-shirts available. How do I get one?
A: The plan was to have DDTS shirts made every three months in a different design. However, since the economy has gone in the toilet, Clear Channel won't allow any more shirts to be made. Thus, only the first edition brick red shirts with the Kareem footprint are in circulation. There ARE some shirts available to win but only Roche knows what you have to do to win them.

Q: Didn't there used to be a rule that said there can be no repeats in the Doo?
A: Yes, in the beginning, repeats were frowned upon. But why deprive these great songs from the past another time in the spotlight? The unofficial rule now is, no repeats for six months.

Q: What was the song you played in the Doo on _____?
A: We try to keep track of all the songs featured in the Doo. If it was before 2/09, check the old Doo Doochive below. If it's more recent. Check the journal entries to the right (if it's over a week old, you'll have to click "Previous Entries" at the bottom of the page). Each day's entry will give you the title, artist, album, and a link to purchase the song.

Q: Can I get an audio file of Roche yelling "Doo Doo Time Spectacular? I want it as my ringtone?
    A: Yes. See below.

    Doo Doo Time Spectacular Yell

By popular demand, here is an audio clip of Roche doing the famous Doo Doo Time Spectacular yell. Impress your friends by downloading and using it as a ringtone. Texting will never be the same.

History of Doo Doo Time Spectacular (1 of 2)

Roche takes a walk down memory lane with Whitney and gives an early history of the Doo. Recorded in  February 2008, this is one of the first podcast R&W ever did and THE podcast to listen to if you’ve ever wondered how DDTS came to be and why it’s called Doo Doo Time Spectacular.

The Chumbawumba Story

  • "Tubthumpin" was finally played on Friday 2/29/08...and it felt right.

    Andre the Leap Baby says,
"I'm with you on today's DDTS. I'm so ready for some drinks tonight on
top of that it's my Bday today."

    Richard says,
"I'm glad you finally played tub thumping. You've teased me for a year with the damn thing and now I can finally get it out of my head."

    Adam says,
"been a long time coming! awesome! greatest week in Doo history capped with the best song in the Doo ever."

Who are these people? Who knows. What we do know is that we will play "Tubthumpin" every February 29th for the rest of my time here at DC101...so probably never again.
