J.K. Rowling to Release Children's Book "The Ickabog" for Free Online

J.K. Rowling is releasing a new children's book for free online to help kids stay entertained during the pandemic.

The Ickabog, described as a "stand-alone fairytale," was written years ago and was intended to be published following the release of the first Harry Potter book. But after Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone exploded on the scene, The Ickabog was shelved.

"I always meant to publish it, but after the last Potter was released I wrote two novels for adults and, after some dithering, put those out next. Until very recently, the only people who'd heard the story of The Ickabog were my two younger children."

Two to three chapters will be released every weekday starting Tuesday, May 26th until July 10th.
